Dr. Holtzman just stopped by and said that everything is going really well. They are still keeping a close eye on Drew's blood counts as there is still a possibility of a transfusion, but since it is only day 3 out of surgery everything is still somewhat normal. Tomorrow they may be able to remove Drew's chest tube and central line which would be a huge win for Drew's comfort level. Drew also has 2 nerve blocks in his back that helps to control the pain and those may come out tomorrow too.
Drew took a long walk today and sat up for about 3 hours which impressed the physical therapist. He is doing awesome when it comes to trying to recover as quickly as possible. My grandparents gave us a picture frame that records voices so Aubrey recorded a message for Drew and Drew plays the message for every nurse, therapist, etc. that walks into his room so everyone is trying their best to get Drew home as quickly as possible so he can see Aubrey. A big thank you to Grandma and Grandpa Lehn, that frame is the best, Drew loves it and it always brings a smile to his face.

ReplyDeleteSounds like everything is looking up. Yeh! So Drew is trying to impress the physical therapist huh? But only 3 hours sitting in a chair? He's got alot of catching up to do. I bet he sits in a chair at home at least 6 go 10 hours huh? Yuk yuk! I love the picture frame thing. Grandma and Grandpa sure know how to move ya huh? Good luck tomarrow. Hope for more good things. What a wonderful gift of a picture frame with Aubrey's voice - now that's motivation for you Drew! She misses her Daddy & Mommy, we're sure! We're so excited to hear of all the progress reports.
