Drew was admitted to the hospital yesterday for an infection. He woke up at 3 AM with a 103 fever. It seemed to go away mid-morning but then it was back up to 103 and 104 in the early afternoon so we went to the ER. He has some sort of infection causing the fever and is on a ton of antibiotics. The fever has broken and he is feeling better but he will be in the hospital for a few days.
We also saw Drew's oncologist yesterday and did not get the news we were hoping for from his petscan. The biggest concern right now is that is seems like Drew has a cluster of cancer nodes putting pressure on liver causing liver problems. Drew will have an ultrasound today so we can get a better look and then the doctor has to put a plan together on how to relieve the pressure. He mentioned radiation or putting a stint in, we should know more in the next few days. There are also some other areas of concern and I am not sure if Drew will start chemo right away or what the next steps will be. There is nothing showing near his back muscle or spine which was the reason for the petscan, so that is good news and also good news that he had the scan in the first place in order to catch these other issues.
